I've heard horror stories about 15 seat vans, how they flip and get in a lot of accidents. my step mother takes in foster kids and she wants to buy one. i go to her house a lot to see my half brothers.
should I trust these vans or stick to driving my own car?

They are no more dangerous than any other vehicle that someone doesn't know how to drive. If the driver of the van remembers they are driving a 15 pass. van and not a Subaru Impreza, then you should be fine. Vans are a bit more to handle than most cars but then again so is an 80,000 pound truck with a 53-foot trailer, yet there are truckers with literally millions of safe miles behind them. It's all about the individual driver paying attention and handling their vehicle safely. |

they are really dangerous - mainly because the people that drive them are not required to have a CDL, thus they do not get proper training on driving a vehicle like a full sized van - it can not be safely driven in the same manner an automobile is driven. |

15 seat vans are dangerous to a degree. The main reason is because they have a higher tendency to roll over because of its huge mass. Also the fact that the driver of the van may or may not be licensed and are not necessarily trained to drive it well is a factor in this. When you have a large vehicle that has a tendency to roll over or lose control then you have an increased risk in accidents. A 15 seat van may roll over because of the combined weight of the van and its passengers. Larger vehicles can tend to roll over because of the center of gravity and the fact that the weight acts against the speed. |
