2 Motorbike accidents, still want to ride?

I had 2 motorbike accidents in a 3 month period. Both times wasn't my fault! Ive broken my hip and knee and my ankle and they had to reconstruct my wrist! My parents got 10 years older in that period and wont allow me on a bike again! I love riding! Do you guys think i should rather not get one again or go for it?

I'm not sure where you're living but there s training available where you are taught how to avoid dangers and what to do in emergencies (eg when a car doesn't notice you at a junction). I recommend all riders take at least one of these courses as it really helps you become a better rider. It isn't cheap, but losing your life is obviously more costly. In the UK you have Bike Safe training sessions with the police which are excellent. They are bikers too and aren't actually there telling you to go slower. They are very popular and sessions fill up very quickly!

Your parents are right to be worried, but you have to prove to them that you are a competent rider. Understandably, they don't want you to die or get seriously injured, so it will be very hard to 'reason' your parents out of this fear.

Firecracker .
Unless you're under the age of 18, you can still get back on that horse.
Personally, I see no reason not to, as long as you learned something with each accident. I have a feeling you still live with Mom and Dad, so you should listen to them. Don't pressure them until after you heal. It'll be hard to change their minds if you're still gimping around or wearing bandages. One thing you can do, when you get healthy: take a rider's education course. There's different levels, from brand-new beginner to advanced rider. Learning how to save your life instead of crashing may help convince your parents.

It's unfortunate that other drivers are not observant or courteous. I say go for it, but you know the dangers...Good luck!

Do what you love.
If it is your accedent then quit.
You were at the wrong place at the wrong place.

I don't think you have been taking seriously just how dangerous every other user on the road is to a motorcyclist.

You NEED to assume that every other vehicle on the road is actively TRYING TO KILL YOU.

Give everybody else as much space as is safely possible, and try to stay ahead and away from the traffic as much as possible.

I have heard testimony from friends who ride that tell me thay have had accidents where they have been riding along in the lane next to a car, the driver of the car has looked all around them including looking directly at the motorcyclist, and then changed lanes right into them and smashed them into roadside barriers.

The excuse? "I didn't see you."

Even riding a bright flashy bike with flouro riding gear on, the lights switched on, and loud pipes, 95% of drivers just won't see you. Even when you are in front of them.

Sad but true.

Having said this, I know there is no feeling like riding. I suggest you do as much of it as possible. Just be safe.

I really hate to say this, but I don't believe you were entirely blameless in those accidents. I'm sure you were doing something not quite right, and you're probably not quite mature enough to handle the responsibility of being in traffic.

You (everyone) have to learn defensive driving and not be so confident.

I've been riding motorcycles since I was 15 years old, and that's 40 years now. I've have one bad accident and just dumped a couple of times.

Give it a rest for now, you've been injured pretty badly. Come back to it in a year or two, after you're had a bit more time to grow up.

It hurt to write that, but I've been there.

Good luck.
When you get back to bikes, keep the rubber side down.
