2 cars reaches intersection?

If two cars reaches an intersection then who goes first? Say like I drive Straight up to a stop sign and a car on the left arrives at a stop sign then who gets the first take? How Can I tell? Or what if we both arrive at the same time?

well answered by the above poster, but bare in mind...
just because its YOUR right of way, doesnt mean that you can have it. i tend to be more of an agressive defensive driver, but i tend to watch out for scenerios such as these. sometimes, you'll get the guy who's in a rush, and even if you clearly got to the stop first, he'll try and beat you across anyway.
if you were to get hit, its obviously their fault, but try and be more defensive anyway. a fender bender, no matter who's fault, still hurts inside...
(I know it did when my car got hit... )

depends on the state. In Texas if you get there at the same time the one to the right has the right to go first. |

If there's no traffic light, then who stops first should go first. If you both stop at the same time, the driver on the right has the right of way. In your example, you'll go first. But watch out for aggressive drivers. If the other driver goes first, just let him go. There's no point in getting into an accident based on principal. |

According to law, whichever vehicle arrives to the stop sign first and comes to a full and complete stop first, has the right of way. If two vehicles approach and arrive at a stop sign at the same time, the vehicle to the right has the right of way. In other words, in your scenario if both of your cars came to the stop sign at the same time, and the other vehicle was on your left, you would be the vehicle to the right and therefore have the right of way. |
