I have gotten into three accidents within a 2 month period. 2 of them where from enetering and leaving a parrallel park, which caused paint transfer, and one was when i was hit head on by a canadian man with one blind eye, as i was leaving a shopping mall, and he said he had bad depth perception. Thing is for one of the accidents i got a citation, and none for the other two. the car is my mom's. Will her insurance be dropped,and will i ever be able to get insurance when i buy my own car?

Anything is possible and yes you will be able to get insurance at anytime as long as you are willing to pay the higher rates that they will charge you....

Many auto insurance companies follow the Insurance Services Office's (ISO) standard of increasing a premium by 20 to 40 percent of the insurer's base rate (not your current rate) after your first at-fault accident.
A base rate is the average amount of claims paid plus the insurance company's claims-processing fee.
According to the ISO, for multicar policies the surcharge is 20 percent of the base rate, and for single-car policies it is 40 percent.
For example, say you insure two cars at a premium of $300 each and a base rate of $400.
After an accident, you may get a surcharge of $80 (20 percent of $400) on both, so your total surcharge would be $160, an increase of about 27 percent on the policy. |
