5-Speed or Automatic ???

What do you drive or own?

my car is manual. i learned to drive in automatic and bought my first car in manual, so i had to learn, quickly. i like it better. i don't think i will switch to automatic.

i'm a girl, and i don't drive an automatic red civic. i drive a manual silver mustang.

i own a silver automatic, but can drive manual as well. everybody should know how to drive manual.

first poser - i do not have a civic

Definitely manual 5 speed. More fun and greater control over the car. Always driven a manual. Tried an auto for a few years and went back to manual. Currently we have 1 auto for my spouse and 1 manual for myself.

It got to have a manual.

Automatic, explorer.. know how and have driven 5-speeds in the past, but something always wears out in the end on them. It's also more complicated to do anything else (esp. with kids in the backseat) while your shifting gears all the time.

driving a 5 speed manual is more fun and lets connects you to your car and the road better since you have more control not to mention gas mileage an auto is good if your lazy and dont like to shift

Currently drive an automatic. Have had several 5 speeds in the past. I prefer the 5 speed.

Every vehicle I've owned has had a manual transmission, and I have no desire to change that. Shifting gears is just as much a part of driving as braking.

For years, the manuals were usually more fuel efficient and quicker overall. Ironically as the industry improves and the technology advances, we have automatics now that are more fuel efficient, and quicker (thanks to hydraulics) that their manual counterparts.

You even have some sports cars, which now have "manu-matics" instead of ful manual because they know fuel mileage improves, which helps their companies C.A.F.E. credits, it's easier to install, and requires less maintenence than a manual.

I myself have always had automatics. If the car can do it itself, why would I bother. There's enough traffic around me that it becomes annoying if I had a manual. I do drive manual... a time or 2 on a friends car because they were so drunk they couldn't drive, but it's a bit too archaic for me to be focused on. And if I do get in someones car and it's a manual, they better shift softly, or I'll throw up on them :)

I've always driven a standard, however I'm currently driving a prius hybrid which is drive by wire (fancy automatic). I drive it for the gas mileage, I drive in excess of 30K miles per year.

I don't think I'll ever go back to a standard.

5-speed. Mechanical/electronic precision is no match for human know-how.Dunno how you could do burnouts& such with automatics

For years I drove a 4 speed and really liked it, until I got an automatic...now I'd never go back; all that shifting...it does help with gas mileage though, but I'm an 'automatic fan' now..........

I owna 2004 wrx with an automatic! It has around 350 horses! Automatic is the way to go, yo dont have to worry about the clutch burning out or even the transmission... Tha automatic with a shift kit will most likely never go out! Unless you seriously tearing it up!

Why do 5 out of 6 car driver's ignore cyclist's hand signal?
When I want to turn right on my cycle, I give a clear arm and hand signal that I want to turn right, yet 5 out of 6 cars on average speed up rather than slow down.
Why?
