75% reduced intensity DRL high beam?

My truck has DRL that use the high beams at 75% of normal intensity. I would like to know 2 things. One is does my high beams run at 75%, or do they run at 25%. Second, if they do run at 75%, is that illegal and would it blind other drivers on the road.

Your information is basically correct. DRL's do run on high beam at reduced power. My information says 50% power but I do not know how reliable that is. The light is not strong enough to bother or hamper other driver's vision.

And the reason that they utilize the high beam is to make your vehicle visible from a greater distance. Your vehicle is perfectly legal.

From all of the ones that I have seen the (DRL) use the low beams and not the high beams while on.

The HDM is an electronic module that provides electrical power to the vehicle low beam headlamps.

The HDM is controlled by a pulse width modulated (PWM) ground signal from the body control module (BCM).

The BCM determines the desired lamp intensity using the ambient light sensor, multifunction switch and the park brake switch as inputs.
