Hi ,I was traveling to PA back from NY and got a speeding ticket(85 mph in 65 mph zone) in NY.Will this come up in my criminal records?What are the chances of Officer not showing up and ticket getting dismissed?How many years will it take for this to fall off my driving record?

Ok, here are your answers:
1. A traffic ticket has nothing to do with a criminal record, it's an infraction. Even if you were given a criminal ticket for speeding it's just a violation of traffic law not a crime.
2. The odds are usually against you with an Officer not showing up in court. However, in some jurisdictions, an Officer can reschedule or not appear once only - on the 2nd time, then the ticket could be dismissed.
3. That depends on your home State. Most traffic infractions come off after 18-months. This also depends on where the ticket was issued. Was it in NY or in PA? If you have a Pa license but got the ticket in NY, PA doesn't have reciprocity with NY - no transfer of points - but you would have the points on your driving privilege in NY. |

youd best get you a traffic layer and get it pleaded down to something else or have get u drivers school- cost u a couple hundred bucks- but no points against your licence and your insurance wont get raised |

and fight it he may lower it to 70 in a 65 if he does that it will not show up on your driving record |

Contact the courts where your ticket came from. They will be able to answer any questions. Also ask them if your insurance will go up. If so see if they will allow you to take a traffic school class to avoid the rate increase. |

The odds of the officer not showing up to court are low, they get paid OT. There is no reason for you to fight it, you will lose. Go to traffic school. It will be off your record in 3 years. It's only your driving record, it's not a "criminal record" so jobs, outside of driving jobs, won't know or even care. |
