Airbags....WHY THERE?
Find answers to your legal question.

Airbags....WHY THERE?

Why are horns located in the middle of the steering wheel?? That is right where the airbag is! Most people blow their horn either because they almost got in an accident or right before an accident. What a way to set u up for a broken arm!

If the impending accident is serious enough to cause the airbags to deploy, chances are you will be busy trying to avoid it rather than just sit there and sound the horn.

Newer cars have buttons on the side of the steering wheel. Even my 97 Eclipse is like that. Just press it with a thumb. Older cars like a 69 Chevelle, dont even have airbags. Just seat belts.

The air bag, once deployed. Will not break your arm. The horn button/s is/are placed
just to the edge of the air bag exit on the steering wheel.

the horn was put there before the airbag was invented. Most people avoid an accident and the horn has nothing to do with that situation. Most people should use their horn when they want to notify another driver that is unaware that they are causing a conflict and impeeding the flow of traffic. Unless you are in the ghetto whereas the horn is used in place of a door bell for a lazy person that doesn't want to get out of their car. I don't understand how a horn can break an arm or even in the worst case scenerio an eardrum. Most airbags deploy at the instance of a collision which can cause moire harm than good sometimes.

airbags are lame to begin with.

As for your question. I always move my horns. My sister had her arm broken twice from honking while crashing. Neither car had an airbag though. My horns are located on the floor, beside my high/low beam switch. This way I can honk it without moving my arms at all. Of course I do honk a lot when dimming the lights, but that just makes the oncoming person think his lights are still on bright, which here in Oregon is usually the case.

Until just this minute, when you brought it up, I never thought of that. I guess when you are about to crash, you need to move your arm to a safer location. Good luck with that, eh?
