Almost hit in Car Accident, Should I have stopped?

I was driving down the highway in the far right lane when this car swerves outta nowhere from the left lane with the front of the car destroyed almost hitting my car. I swerved to avoid the car, so it didn't hit me (almost did).

I didn't really see what happened, so I didn't' stop. I was able to narrowly avoid that car hitting me. I continued driving and saw a truck pullover to the side of the road.

Should I have stopped too even though I almost got hit but didn't really see what happened?

Me is wrong. That is not leaving the scene of an accident. Your vehicle has to be involved in the accident. (being hit) It would have been a good idea to stop and make sure no one was hurt though. If someone was hurt and you are the first person on the scene you are supposed to stop by law.

you should have pulled over. while it was legally Ok for you to continue your journey the other person driving the damaged car may have been having a heart attack or be in other trouble.
while It is normal to be wary of strangers trying to deliberately ram your car for insurance or robbery purposes . the fact it stopped meant you too could have pulled up and watched to assess driver etc and if you had a care phone called for assistance.
at least the trucker did the right thing.
yes, be wary but don't lose sight of your humanity.

The laws in most states require that you stop and render aid. However, since someone else did stop, chances are that you are not going to be contacted, UNLESS a witness thinks that you may have been involved and, in some way, contributed to the collision. If that witness got your plate numbers, you may have to answer some difficult questions.

Next time something like this happens, consider pulling over and checking to see if you can help. Only if the situation makes it more dangerous for you to stop than to continue, should you not pull over. If it were YOU, injured in that car, wouldn't you want someone to stop and help?

no. if there was no accident, there is no scene of an accident to leave. get away, that person may have a vendetta, road rage, alchohol, drugs... you don't know, keep moving.

No, I would not get involved if I had no collision. Unless it was a single car accident and you are looking to assist with first aid. Stay out of things if you can.
