There are two requirements which would fulfill the definition for legal blindness: 1) Best correctable vision, with "standard" eyeglasses of 20/200 or less; and 2) a field restriction of 15 degrees or less.
A person without any central vision cannot see an object at which they are looking directly. He/she can only see in the periphery of their vision which can only be corrected to 20/200. They have poor color vision and poor acuity. The central vision is not essential for travel so they can probably get around pretty well, using telescopes or magnifying glasses for help.
A person with a restricted field cannot see in the peripheral areas and can only see a small portion of anything at which they are looking. For example, they may look at your face but only have enough vision left to see your nose. These people require training and a cane or dog to help them with travel skills. They have very poor night vision.
Depending upon your age, your eyeglass prescription may need to be made stronger as time goes by but this will not predispose you to any cause for blindness. Although not wearing corrective lenses won't look the same as actual legal blindness, it will make you more sensitive to the plight of legally blind people. |

You have poor vision. They want somebody who is blind in both eyes. |

No. To be legally blind, your better eye has to be at or worse than 20/200 *WITH* correction. |

I think to be legally blind you have to have 20/100 when corrected. |

I don't believe so since you can still see out of one eye - you are only partially impaired. My vision is worse than yours uncorrected... they should be able to correct yours to 20/40 in your left eye. |

I have 20/400 vision in my left eye which is correctable to 20/20-20/25 with CONTACTS and I'm not considered legally blind |

Well I'm no doctor and I'll bet that no one on this site is a doctor so... Maybe you should ask a real doctor. (I'll tell you what I think however. If you can see through at least one eye, then you're not legally blind. But don't take my word for it.....) |

Nope...........I have 20/180 in one eye uncorrected and the law states that I am not legally blind....... |
