Am i just a bad driving or over reacting ?

please help i passed my test in march but was on maternity leave till september so only started driving to work then , I work in a busy city and for first week was anxious but then was fine then 3 weeks ago on the way to work someone rolled into the back of me at traffic lights because he said he slipped in the rain and the next day someone was in the wrong lane she panicked and nearly drove me off the road. i then was on holiday for 2 weeks and now ive found i feel so nervous again and my confidence is shot . my first day back to work i was entering a mini roundabout which i thought it was safe to go then a car i didnt even see drove in front and i nearly bumped into the side of it i think that was my fault i keep working it out in my head ! do things like this happen all the time and people just dont think about it or am i just a bad driver ?

You're not a bad driver, you're just inexperienced, that's all. The first two incidents you mention were not your fault at all, and undoubtedly you've learned from the incident at the roundabout. It helps if you take on a defensive attitude and always expect that other drivers might do something unexpected. It'll come, you've just had a baptism of fire, nothing to worry about.

Don't worry about it - from the sounds of it, the couple of minor crashes you've gotten in have been the other drivers being temporarily stupid. My mom has been in a 5 crashes herself, and only one was actually her fault. I would say, as long as you passed the driver's ed and have your license, you don't have to worry about a thing.

That's all very normal on the roads. You'll come across it all the time. You're not really a bad driver, just need more experience. Have you thought about doing the pass plus course?

Hi there,

It sounds like you need some practice. Even if it is other drivers who are making mistakes, you are feeling unconfident. This can only be resolved through driving more. In your last example, it sounded like you didn't see the other car. To me that indicates that you weren't looking before you turned, or maybe didn't look back again that way before you turned. Just be cautious and keep driving.

Of course your going to make minor mistakes, you've only passed your test a few months ago, it don't seem that it was your fault. You get more aware as your get experienced. Male and female drivers are the same, the thing that makes MALES bad drivers is speed, if you don't believe me, why is insurance so much more for males? Sorry lads =/ it's true. I don't think your a bad driver, if people beep their horn all the time at you, then you probably need practice lol. But it sounds like your over reacting

You know there is an old saying, that when you pass your driving test, it is then you learn to drive. At any roundabout take your time and make sure it is clear for you to proceedI. Ignore ant of those drivers who blow their horns, they forget that they had to learn to drive once. Don't worry about the cars immediately behind you, just worry about what is in front of you. Finally, in busy traffic, keep checking your mirrors.

You're NOT a bad driver, a bad driver wouldn't even be thinking like you.

You are both over reacting and a bad driver. (no offense- alot of people let their emotions get in the way of focusing on driving)

Become of defensive driver. You are in contol, not the car. Watch all of your mirrors, watch the road. Don't have the radio up so loud, and try not to eat while driving. It's a matter of the brain- you have to overcome your emotions to get better at drving.

No matter what you are afraid of, the more you hold these fears in your mind -- getting into another car accident, getting hurt while driving, hurting someone else while driving -- the more you will attract them into your life, and the harder it will be for you to get behind the wheel.

First off, allow yourself to let go of wanting to force yourself to forget or overcome what happened, Allow yourself instead to be gentle with yourself and explore how you feel about what happened and keep letting go.

It is also helpful to let go of trying to figure out what you did wrong or how you could have avoided the accident. This simply forces you to hold onto the trauma and blame yourself for what happened.

The more you let go, the more you will free yourself of the images and feelings in your mind and body from the past.

Then simply start small with short trips and keep releasing.

As you do this, you will find that the fear you associate with driving disappears, and you’re able to regain control of your life.
