I would be very interested to know why you wish to do this. The airbag , unless activated does nothing and costs nothing in running costs etc. A very strange thing to feel that you need to do. |

If your vehicle did not come with an on-off switch, you can have one installed (on most vehicles).
The manufacturers sell kits but often the parts department people don;t know about them. You may have to go to an after-market switch kit.
Also, you will need to get approval form NHTSA before doing that.
Here ia a link for that form...

in the first section under US Government there is a link to click for the form
Questions about airbag systems are asked a lot in this site. Check out this website for many of your answers
http://www.airbagsolutions.com
This is quite an extensive website with pictures, descriptions and factory fault code charts as well as videos of both accidents and airbag deployments on these pages:
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/resources.aspx
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/movie.aspx
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/movie9.aspx
It also has a lot of information for you to check your own vehicle, like the recall search pages for both the USA and Canada:
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/nhtsa.aspx
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/Canada.aspx
In addition, the purpose of this website and company is to help people diagnose and repair airbag problems themselves without taking them to the dealer (if possible). It offers all the photos and data you need to understand your airbag system, read the codes and reset the light. It’s a pay site, but it certainly is worth the money ($14.95 for 1 day full access)
There’s a place to check if your car is listed on the home page
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/vehicles_list.aspx
and a working demo @ http://www.airbagsolutions.com/demo.aspx that shows just how easy these repairs can be.
Lots of insurance companies and body shops use this site for the information they need to repair your car.
I hope I helped you |

Don't mess with the airbags...they are there for a reason.
I was recently in an accident where I hit another vehicle at approximately 40 mph. Both of my airbags deployed. If they hadn't, I would not have walked away from that accident. Even though I was alone in the car, what if I hadn't been? If that had been the case, the passenger would have been protected.
You never know when an accident will happen. Leave both airbags on...always. You are risking serious injury or death by disconnecting them or turning them off. The cost to replace airbags after deployment doesn't even come anywhere close to the cost of your life. Just a note...airbags should always come from the vehicle manufacturer (Ford, Chevy...whatever) and be professionally installed.

PS Airbags HURT...I felt like I had been kicked in the chest by a horse. Mine caught me in the throat and chest. I had friction burns visible for several days afterwards. |

Dont **** with airbags, and im sure this will void your warranty and any responsibility the automaker has if you crash. |

I'm guessing this is so you can fit a child seat. The location of the switch may vary from car to car, your best bet would be to contact the dealer. Though some cars do not even have a key switch, I know mine doesn't. |

Doesnt it state clearly that if you have front passenger airbags, that thou shalt not fit a childs seat in the front passenger seat.
And to fit them in the rear instead? |

If the vehicle does not have it on the dash in plain sight then you cannot turn it off. |
