There are some quire parents hurt their kids too. Have you ever thought about that? Do you think your kids safe with you or you significant other? I would be worry about that too!

Exellent question! Research shows that school buses are much safer than your car. One of the many reasons is the height at which the passengers ride. Should a bus be T-boned or otherwise hit, the impact (or intrusion) into the passenger compartment would be minimal. As previously noted, school bus drivers go through EXTENSIVE training and retraining continually! They possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) PLUS a school bus driver certificate. They are also trained in CPR and basic first aid. Are you? Addtionally, school buses undergo inspections EVERY time they're operated. The public is usually unaware of these inspections as they are completed at the yard before the bus is started. Next time you see a school bus driver, (if they have a second) ask to see their daily inspection report. You'll appreciate the dedication to safety after reading it!
Seat belts are only as good as the passengers using them. A driver is FIRST concerned with driving safety and then with passenger conduct. All school buses also have interior / exterior P.A. systems (and some now feature video cameras) for passenger safety.
If this doesn't convince you, visit your local school bus yard and speak with the transportation manager.

car riders are safe and well equipped with airbags and other road safety equipments car passengers do not fight or hurry up the driver.

You are right about kids being a distraction on school buses but the chance of getting in an accident are much higher in a car than on a bus. The reason for this is because a bus is a commercial vehicle meaning any person applying to be a bus driver must hold a special license called a Certified Driver's License (most commonly referred to as CDL). The test for this is much harder and more in depth than a test for a regular license. You must identify all parts of the vehicle correctly, describe its use, as well as know the road rules for the written test. When you have clocked over 300 hours of driving time with a trained person you may take the driving portion. During this most likely the instructor will take you on the interstate, ask you to perform a diagonal or other park, and may also ask more questions while you are driving. So as you can tell people who hold CDL's are trained and experienced and they know how to operate a commercial vehicle safely and not let distractions get in their way. I hope this clears some things up for you.

You are right. School buses are not exactly safe. I think its terrible how kids are so vulnerable in these times. Its so common now a days to have children that are just minding their own business and they are attacked by another student. Or the horrible bus accidents. I think that you driving your children to school is a safer option. The reason is because you are confident in your own driving skills. You know that they are safe in your presence. Bus drivers also have a bad reputation of driving carelessly. They don't pay attention, they run lights. So that puts your children in danger. I think that you are wise to drive your kids to school. At least you can walk away knowing that they aren't in harms way. Good job for thinking ahead.

I think you're on the right track. Children should be insulated from EVERYTHING dangerous or even uncomfortable for the first 18 years of their lives. You should not invest time or energy on anything else.

Oh! Do they wear helmets to school & when going up and down stairs? Do you have any IDEA the risk of a head injury you're putting them in?? You're a bad parent.
