I have never been in a car accident, so I don't know what it's like for an airbag to go off and come in contact with you. To be honest, they have always looked unsafe to me, since they go off at such a high speed. ARE they safe? What are some injuries you could get from them (while wearing your seatbelt)?

Being in a car accident is inherently unsafe, with or without an airbag. It is somewhat less unsafe with a properly functioning airbag, meaning one that does not inflate in those accidents where it will do more harm than good. An airbag that inflated in all accidents would be unsafe. Unfortunately, when the airbag functions properly by not inflating in an accident in which is would be unsafe to inflate, someone then posts a question on Yahoo! Answers insinuating that the airbag did not function properly (because the person mistakenly believes that the airbag is supposed to inflate in all accidents, even though that would be unsafe) and asks how to sue. |

Well, they are not PERFECTLY safe, but they are definitely safer than smashing your face into the steering wheel at 60mph. |

It depends on how fast the car is initially going. Normally they make things safer than they would be otherwise, although they can be dangerous as well |
