Are gopeds street legal?

I'm moving to LA in January and I'll be working five miles from where I live. To save money on gas I'll only be using my car for pleasure (mostly weekends), so I'm looking for alternate modes of transportation. Right now I'm looking at gopeds -- are they legal on the streets (or sidewalks) of LA??

If not, they should be. I don't know of any gasoline powered transportation that is allowed on a sidewalk. These gopeds don't have the necessary features for street use.

No they are no legal for the streets and they are most definitely not legal for the sidewalks.....
