Are people in the USA turning against the American cars?

The car companies did this to themselves. They continued making these big $40,000 and $50,000 SUV's while we're in a recession and while gas was over $4 a gallon. Meanwhile, foreign auto makers were building stylish, more fuel efficient vehicles for very cheap. Now I think they have some SUV's that get 30 mpg...big deal. We have the technology to do better than that.
Oh, and "global warming" isn't real.

Personally I will never buy a car from GM or Chrysler again because they took bailout money. I may still buy Ford if the UAW quit supporting socialist electoral candidates, but I dont want my money going for that either.

And I agree with the majority on that poll.

I have been saying the same thing for years. Even an idiot could have seen this coming from 25 years ago. Back then the experts were telling the 'BIG THREE' that they had to change or go under. None of them listened.

I used to work with Honda when the first Civics went on sale. The ''BIG THREE" attacked and ridiculed them instead of trying to meet their quality standards. Nobody is laughing in Detroit today.

I am not so sure that the American public is turning against the American car manufacturers as much as the fact that we are sick of purchasing American product and the American leadership brand is stuck on stupid. We have purchased American cars, we brought American and now we have bailed them out, kinda sorta. Enough is enough. Anger says to hell with them, but, when you think about it the same people who have supported the Big Three in one way or another get screwed, again. If they go bankrupt, so do the pensions of management and unions. The ancillary businesses like plastics, steel, rubber manufacturing, Sirius radio, shipping related products; all of the things that go into the car, those related industries suffer too in the amount of jobs and pensions. If the car companies go bankrupt, then the American taxpayer loses the money we put into keeping them a float.

It has nothing to do with turning against, from the standpoint of the American taxpayer this is an abusive relationship. What can a battered person do, to extricate him/herself from the main source of income and not wind up in the shelter?

They are not turning against cars made in the U.S. Since the 1990's, Toyota has manufactured more cars in the U.S. than any U.S. company.
The U.S. population turned against the car companies that are headquartered in the U.S. years ago, but not against cars manufactured in the U.S. by foreign companies.
