Any interference with suspension as you suggest would invalidate your insurance and MOT and be very likely to land you in deep sh*t with the boys in blue. You need to get some professional advice. I would start with a Peugeot dealership. They will look at the car and discuss options. More importantly they will know what they are talking about. Which (with respect) you do not.

Perfectly safe, so long as you don't drive the car anywhere after you have removed them.

More likely your shock-absorber insert (dampers) are past their prime.

Replace only in pairs!

renew them , you can't remove them as the front would collapse over the first small hump .
