Are you allowed to drive home after your driving test,whether you pass or fail?

in my day you couldn't because you we're no longer insured to drive the instructors car

no you are not because you are probably to excited and unable to concentrate,on driving thats what my instuctor told me.

My driving instructer years ago said you can't drive home because you are not insured as a full licence driver.

my instructor wouldnt let me drive home in his car after i passed. something to do with insurance.

only if your in your own car,an instructers car is only insured for learner drivers

yes you are allowed to drive home but its upto the instructor whether they let you or not, mine did not let me after failing because i was so upset and wouldnt have been able to concentrate on the road. i passed second time and as i was okay then he let me drive home. oh yeh and people saying the insurance doesnt cover you if you pass i know for a fact it does, one reason is because driving instructors also do pass plus which is where they take recently passed students for the extra motor way test which i did with the same instructor that taught me normally

You are allowed,in law, to drive after a driving test if you pass or fail, provided you accompanied in the case of failure. The reason you're not allowed to in the case of a driving school car is that it's posible that you won't be in any emotional state to concentrate after the test, whatever to outcome.

Hi I suppose when you pass then you can but if you dont pass then the same rules would apply that you have to have another person who has passed there test in the car with you.
wont your driving instructor normally drop you off anyways after your lesson.

Maybe when you have passed your test fully then you have to wait until you get your proper licence but im not sure,

Your driving instructor is always there to help so maybe ask him on your next lesson.

My driving instructor told me if you failed your test you may be too upset to concentrate on driving and if you passed you may be too excited, so he always drove people home after their test whether they passed or failed.

I passed first time 15 years ago and I drove home from my successful test!! Was shaking so much and my driving instructor got in the passenger seat and said something like, "Don't drive badly now you've passed!" and I drove back to his 'shop'.

My hubby eventually passed 6 years ago...failed 3 times (passing on his 4th!) and drove home everytime! (Think he needed the practice!!)

I've certainly had friends that weren't allowed to drive home after their test (both pass and fails) but not totally sure of reasons. We both used 'small' driving firms (single car) to learn with so not sure if the insurance would be different depending on who you learn to drive with and size of firm!

You are allowed to drive home on your own if you wish, if you pass, and you are allowed to drive home if you fail, so long as you have a qualified driver at the side of you watching and giving you instruction.

If you fail then you can drive with the qualified driver beside you. If you pass in your own car obviously you can drive it. However the instructors car is insured for drivers under supervision, and if you pass the instructor is no longer legally responsible for you. Also they expect you to be "pass happy"

If you pass you can only drive home if you are insured in your own car. If you dont pass your test then you can drive home only if its in your instructors car with your instructor.

Not on your own, you can only drive as a learner, with a qualified driver.

If you pay your instructor for the journey home although many don't recommend it!! Either way, you will be too emotional to fully concentrate :-)

If you pass, you are licenced, of course you can. If you fail, you aren't licenced, but, unless they revoke your permit for dangerous or illegal acts while driving the exam, you can drive accompanied by the appropriate age licenced adult you drove to the testing centre with.

Lets see....you failed the driving test but you are wondering why you can't drive home....perhaps it is because you don't have a drivers permit/license to do so... if you pass then you can drive home and anywhere else you would like....see how this works....you pass you go, no pass no go....
