Are you allowed to park in school parking lots overnight?

I live across the street from a school and I am having a large party for my friends. Would it be ok if they park in the school lot until around midnight?

Check with the principal. It may not be allowed because of liability issues.

You cannot ask the principal you will need to speak with the school district because they are the ones that will have the authority to say yes or no...

To be safe check with the school distract. It really makes friends mad when their car gets towed away.

I don't think the school principal has any authority to grant permission to use a school parking lot. You'd probably have to contact the local police or someone from the local school district.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't get my hopes up. A school lot is not a "public" parking lot, and only certain individuals affiliated with the school are allowed to park there at anytime.

If you allow your friends to park there, you might get away with it, but you run the risk of all the cars getting ticketed and maybe even towed! That would not be a great way to end the party! They may have to stay well past midnight!

Best bet -- I wouldn't chance it. Have them carpool as much as possible (a good idea regardless) and park on the street. A little walking to your place wouldn't hurt anybody!

i wouldnt ask as long as no signs say school parking only or parking for school/school activities only. you could fight it if they say anything
