Yes, you are, most states have rules pertaining to the operation of bicycles, and in those rules, will be a generic statement that "operators of bicycles are subject to the same rules of the road as those who operate motor vehicles".
In NY, you can be stopped for going through a STOP sign, a red light, making an illegal turn, not using an available bike path, riding the wrong way on a 1-way street, riding on the sidewalk and a few others. The only difference is, that you would not have to pay the surcharges attached to the tickets and there aren't any points involved. |

yes, if your on a bike, motorcycle, or automobile, you are still considered a moving vehicle and not a pedestrian. there for you must abide by all traffic laws, although in most parts the public servants are relaxed for bicyclists. |

Bikes are entitled to all rights of the roadway, and are subject to all laws.
Yes, you must stop, the same as a car. |

Yes you are, just like a car. You are supposed to ride on the right side of the road and obey all of the traffic signs just like cars do. |

The way I look at it. When you are riding a bike you are suppose to stop at a stop sign. It is just like you driving a car. Now if you don't stop then you might get into an accident. Whenever I do ride my bike I always stop at a stop sign. Plus I do look both ways before I ride my bike across.
Plus I do ride my bike with the traffic. If there is a bike lane I do ride in that. So I am hoping that this does help you answer your question. |

YES you must obey all traffic laws. People always say cars are always mean to bicycles but you know what I think they think they own the world. They don't stop at lights or stop signs and also some times they go against traffic and even ride on the left side of the road. When I saw a bike on the left lane I honked at him and he gave me a shamefully craft gesture. Well he was the one putting himself in danger, because nothing is going to happen to me if my 5,500lb SUV hits a bike. |

You must obey all traffic signs, lights and roadmarkings. The police are usually more lax about the rules of a bicycle though.. |

I do not believe you are legally obligated to do so, but you should. If you want to be safe stop, or just bike on the sidewalk. |
