It depends on the car. You should consult your users manual for accurate numbers. You can also test it as you drive. Some cars can start at 20mph. I think most need at least 30 though. This is becuase the average speed in slow traffic in the US is 35.

I have 2 cars and the truck starts a 30 (F-150). My Tans Am starts at 40. It is older though so things change right.

It depends... in my 4Runner, it has to be about 40 in order to be set... but in another car I had, it was about 25.
