California driving Law?

i saw this sign while driving that said "fines double in construction zone" or something like that... in the state of California is that true and if so is it true for all types of construction zones? i have never heard of this so any information would be great!! thanks

Also in Nevada. If you are cited for speeding in a construction zone, the basic fine AND the additional fees (Highway Patrol retirement fund, Court tax, etc) are doubled also. A typical $250 fine is automatically $500 if issued in a construction zone. I have heard that some Patrolmen will pace a speeder until they hit a construction zone if one is near. That greatly increases the revenue.

basically, if you get pulled over for any traffic violation (i.e speeding, not using a blinker, etc.) in a construction zone, the fine for that violation is double.

I have seen that in several states I have heard the double fines are only in place during the hours of persons activly working in the area, and it resorts to regular fines when noone is working. All construction zones will not have signs, it is up to drivers to keep abreast of new laws.

Yes it's true. Most states have increased penalties in construction zones. Like it helps.

What cracks me up the most are the "Safety Corridors" here and there, most notably in New Mexico. They put out signs that announce you're in a "Safety Corridor" and others that say "Speeding Fines Higher in Safety Corridor". As a professional driver, EVERY road is a safety corridor, I'm always so tempted to pull over and spray paint over "Safety" with the word "MONEY".

Yeah it is true. Anytime they are doing construction on the roads and they have the orange cones and the sign that says "fines double in construction zone". There is also a sign that lets you know when your out of that zone.

Yes, it is true in the state of California. Many states enforce this law to prevent construction workers from being hurt on the job. They do the same thing for school zones, fines are extremely high if you are stopped in one of these zones. They are however, required by law to post the fact that the fine will be exponentially higher when you enter one of these zones. Do yourself a favor & slow down for these zones, They take a national average of 90 seconds too pass through. A small price to pay to save the life of a child...

Same in Oregon. It just means that if you are caught speeding in a construction zone, youre ticket will be two times as much. They are just trying to keep the construction workers safe. Plus, some construction zones are very narrow and much riskier to drive through.

its true everywhere so if you speed in any contruction zone the fine is doubled because there are workers on the road that your supposed to avoid kiling, also there has to be a sign that says costuction zone and the workers would have to be on the job

David
Yes it is. it is to make you want to drive slower and be more careful around those areas.

It is true, basically if you screw up, you get a ticket or a fine, but if you screw up on a construction zone, you will get it twice as hard.

Why is it you've never heard of it? It's on the driving test and everywhere these is construction that sign is very visible. So what is your question?

Yes its true...........in all states..

While the construction zone speed limit signs are required, alone they're not enough. This section only applies when the workers “are at work on the roadway or within the right-of-way so close thereto as to be endangered by passing traffic.â€

your a new driver huh, I think that the dmv should revoke your licesne and have you test again. If you dont know that traffic signs you have no business driving.
