I was travelling down a road, the officer travelling toward me. He passed me and then turned around quickly, pulled me over. He says the radar read 75, wrote 75+ on my ticket. The limit was 65. I am an Oregon resident and do not want the offense to make it to my Oregon record with the reciprocity system. I was only clocked going 10 over....
Can I take a school to avoid the conviction? I once got a ticket in Vermont and they said as long as I had no other offense in the next year, the charge would be dismissed, just pay the fine. Is this possible? Help!!??

Exactly what is it you think you can fight? You were going over the speed limit. One mile over teh speed limit is still over and still illegal, no matter how petty. You broke the law, you have no case.
Your only chance of getting out of it would be to fight it and hope the cop doesn't show up. But the odds of that happening are high. Cops get paid OT to go to court. And if you fight it and lose, you can't go to traffic school.
Next time don't speed.
PS - and you can go to traffic schooll. You still have to pay the fine and for the school, but it won't be on your record. That's your best option.
PPS. And the idiot saying "most cops don't give tickets over 10mph" is of course, guessing, as usual. He has no clue what he's talking about. |

Just tell the judge you don't want the ticket and I am sure he will accept that and toss the case out, then you can have the officer charged with criminal harassment. You just let the judge know how important you are.

This is admittedly not the first time you have been caught, there is no excuse.

Most cop don't ticket people just over 10 mph in freeway, usually has to be like 15 to 20+. He or she must be had a bad mood or something, if is your first time you could take traffic school to erase the record. |

First of all speed kills so slow down. Take the ticket to court. If the officer who wrote the ticket does not show up you are home free. |
