I live in a hurricane zone (Florida) and need to know how to store gasoline correctly. I have the red containers and have then almost all the way full - and out on my deck outside. Do I fully close the caps? Can I carry a small amount (2 gallons, red container) with me inside my car too?

Also, how long can I store gas in the containers?

i would say you can carry it in your car for a short time not to leave it in there no for sure and on your deck i would say no also not sure on the way to store gas i don't even know who to ask maybe someone who works with chemicals can tell you the right way if there is one |

Yes, fully close the caps. For starters remember its not the fuel itself that burns but the FUMES. Second you can easily lose a great amount of it by evaporation if you do not fully close the caps. Gas is not cheap nowadays either.
I don't see a problem carrying a small amount in the car either, just that if you fill them out, REMOVE them from the vehicle and put on the
ground before filling up the containers. |

and you can carie gas in your car with you but be sure its a approved jug it would be best to keep the cans full its safer full then half it's the vapor-es that are explosive not the liquid that's why diesel
engines have 20 to 1 compression it has very little vapor
gas can be stored no more then 45 days with out a stablizer good luck

When transporting gas, it is good to set your gas can inside a box or a container that will help absorb the gas, and help reduce the chance of it tipping over.
Gas containers that are formed like a triangle or are bottom heavy have a much better chance of not tipping over.
If you add a small amount of fuel stabilizer to it, it will last for over a year.
