if you are restricted from driving a tractor-trailer combination, then you do not have a class A i think you are referring to a delivery type
vehicle, so therefore, if you are pulling a trailer for hire, you are out of class but you can drive the truck (tractor) portion all day long |

You mean a complete hot shot rig? The tractor and the trailer both together? No you can not. The hot shot rig is capable of exceeding 10,000 pounds GVW. However if you wanted to drive just the tractor around then I'm thinking you could since without the trailer it's just a one ton truck with no body/bed on it. |

What is a no tractor trailer restriction an a class A CDL? Kind of eliminates the whole purpose of a class A CDL doesn't it?
If the hot shot has a GVW rating of under 26,001 lbs, it should not be a problem. If the GVW rating is 26,001 lbs or more, DOT will consider it a tractor trailer. |

A hot shot is a combination vehicle which requires a class A. Never heard of a tractor trailer restriction . The only thing I know of that will restrict you from driving a combination vehicle is having a class B license. |
