IRON MAN
YES you can. However if you parking causes an obstruction to other road users they still have the authority to give you a ticket.

But for most instances, disabled badge holders ARE allowed to park on double yellow lines - providing you're not causing an obstruction.

vdv_desantnik
yes, but if there is a loading and waiting restriction in place it is not permitted. it is also not permitted at airports and at certain london districts

Bardic
Badge holders may usually park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours in England and Wales, or without any time limit in Scotland except where there is a ban on loading or unloading, and at a few locations where local schemes apply.

This tells you exactly where you cannot park:- http://www.dft.gov.uk/transportforyou/access/bluebadge/pubs/general/thebluebadgeschemeexplanator5983?page=5#a1009

Be aware of the "obstruction" element.

k

LISTEN TO THIS PAL I AM disabled by the way basically you can but on some yellow line you cannot the one you cannot park on are if approx every two metres they have small yellow line running at 90 degrees onto the footpath.also you cannot park on red route at any time.
I f you do park on yellow lines be careful not to cause obstrustion to other trafic and obiviously dont parlk on a corner or bend and cause a danger to other road users.

apart from all that it is legal to park on double yellow lines providing you take notice of the information above

dont take any notice of anybody that says you cannot

I have been disabled for fifteen years and had car all that time so you have your answer that is straight from someone who really know.

sorry one other instance you cannot park at any time on cyclepath with or without yellow lines

Where do all these people who say 'No' get their information from. Read the book that came with your Blue Badge. Damien M is CORRECT.

cosmo
In general , yes, but, before leaving your vehicle try to find a Traffic Warden or Police officer (some chance on the latter !) and ask them if it`s OK . Get their name and number just in case it goes "pear shaped" and you get ticketed

jo
yes u can as long as not blocking any enterers and put disabled badge in view

markaubrey
damien m has the correct answer.im disabled and live in wales i park on double yellows you must use youre clock or you will get ticket 3hrs maximum.

bluemoooner
how ignorant are you when you get your blue badge(formally orange) it clearly states that you can park on double yellow lines for max 3 hours,no parking in bus stops and bus lay byes even if its yellow lines and it is available for all european union country's and the badge should only be used when the disabled person is in the car wether driving or as passenger, not the abuse that certain parents do its for the child and they are at school it does not give the parents disabled privalidges,to travel in around london an application form has to be completed and £10 enclosed to be excempt from the congestion charges.form is available on web for download and address.THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE CLOCK AND BADGE ARE DISPLYED TOGETHER,IT IS NO GOOD ONLY HAVING ONE SHOWING.as diabled providing you get get certain benefits like dla higher rate or wwmps your car tax is free, consult your nearest office or central office in blackpool

Mr Abba
Yes you can for 3 hours, make sure you show your clock too. Keep in mind, you cant park on double yellow lines if there is a loading restriction active.(Kerb markings and sign plates indicate this).

Sometimes. It depends on the area.
If there are no disabled park spaces anywhere then yes

Mick
You are not allowed to park on double yellow lines at all .

rowdy
You don't have a right to, but most authorities will let you, provided there is no loading ban in force. And just like anyone else, you can be moved on if you're causing an obstruction.

The meaning of double yellow lines needs to be cleared up, because, reading some of the answers on here (and elsewhere, come to that), most people don't seem to understand.

The details of any parking ban are displayed on a sign posted near the road, usually on a post or on a convenient wall. The yellow lines simply tell you what stretch of road the parking ban applies to, that's all. They further help you as follows:

If the line is single - this means the ban corresponds roughly to the working day. That generally means Monday to Friday, 9am to 6 pm (give or take).

If the line is double - the above plus other times as well. It might mean 8am to 10pm, say, or 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, or every day of the week. Obviously, "no parking at any time" comes under this category.

If the line is dotted - periods less than the working day. Rush hours only, or mornings only, or nighttime, or market days. Loads of possibilities.

Loading bans follow the same system, except the lines are painted on the kerb.

In all cases, you have to read the sign to see when the ban applies. So if you see double yellows, you might be able to park anyway.

Empeedee
No, having a blue badge does not give you carte blanche to park anywhere - my husband parked on a single yellow line however his back wheel was overhanging the double yellow and when he returned his car had been towed away (cost £120 +) - reason given he was causing an obstruction, yet he was parked in the gap at the end of a row of parking bays so it was not as if he was restricting the flow of traffic.

So beware where you park in Glasgow as they are determined to raise revenue at the slightest opportunity - p.s. he was also issued with a ticket for parking on a single yellow because the plate said there were loading restrictions.
