I'm thinking about taking a job that requires me to work nights and my daughter's father would have to pick her up from preschool 3 nights a week. His truck only has a front seat and we can't switch vehicles because he needs his truck for work. It is a forward facing car seat (she is 4 years old) and the airbags would be turned off. Is that legal?

You cannot legally turn airbags off so the answer is no.
And remember if you illegally use a child car seat, in most states it's consdiered child endangerment so keep that in mind.
And remember, the people telling you can turn off the airbags are as usual GUESSING!!! The switch to turn them off is not so you can put a car seat. It's for doing work on the car that would cause them to go off. You cannot legally drive a car with airbags with the airbags turned off. |

Yes you can as long as the seat is pushed back as far as possible, remember its not against the law if this is all that you have to drive. |

Yes, as long as the air bag is turned off, it is ok and legal. This is precisely why they added those switches to all newer trucks. |

There are 2 problems here.
1st, depending on where you live it may be illegal for her to ride in a front seat. (Tricky if your vehicle only HAS a front seat!!)
2nd, car seats are usually NOT as high as truck seats; and this may lead to driver visibility problems as well as control problems, unless there are blocks added to raise the seat. |
