Can I really go 160 MPH?

My 2004 Acura RSX Type-S speedometer max is 160 MPH. Providing the car is in tune, tires inflated properly, and road conditions are straight, can the car handle going 160, if just for a few seconds?

No. Factory tires usually aren't speed rated for that kind of speed. Also, speedo's aren't a good representation of top speed for any car.
Top speedo speed is usually higher than the car can actually go to just help sell the car to make people think its stupid fast. |

More than likely not, most consumer cars have an electronic cutoff that prevents the vehicle from traveling above a certain velocity, say like 105 mph. Don't know about your Acura though. If it doesn't, your stock suspension, frame, brakes, engine, pistons, etc., aren't designed to travel that speed, so you would be taking a chance. |

I doubt it, and why would you want to try. That much strain on a stock engine would make it junk anyway.
Mostly, manufactures put those ridiculous numbers on a speedometer to get morons to buy an otherwise mediocre car. |

It is doubtful. Even discounting your ability to handle a car at that speed, your street rated tires are not designed to take that kind of velocity, no mater how well they are maintained. |

the most i did on my RSX type s is 163 GPS speed rated.. for a good 15 mins with out a slight hicup.. of course the car did have summer tires and a new firm suspension and other healthy engine mods |
