Can a Car Fail M.O,T if boot doesnt open?

My boot doesnt open, would it fail the UK M.O.T for this? also the steering makes a whiring sound, anyone know if that would fail it aswell

the boot has to opened on certain cars to inspect the top of the rear suspension strut for corrosion...so yes, also it must close secuely for safety purposes...so yes....must be in good working order, the steering would have to be checked out in many ways with an assistant along side the tester to find the noise and see if its a problem or not... |

The boot won't be checked on a M.O.T., therefore can't be failed on it. However, is it not a pain in the butt not being able to open it in the first place? It's a great place to put out of sight all the sweet wrappers etc. in a bag....... I'd fix it if I had that hassle.
It's probably a good idea to check the level of your brake fluid and topped up if necessary. |

The steering is probably just air in the steering fluid.
The boot not opening will be a failure because in the test all the doors and the boots need to open and close correctly.

The only thing I can think of is yes if it means that the bodywork cannot be inspected properly but i do not think so.
A spare wheel is not a requirement to pass an MOT test.
If the streering works properly with no leaks and no excessive play it should pass with the noise. |

No. The spare wheel is not an MOT requirement, if it was about 90% of new cars would fail as they don't have one!!
There is no other items relating to the boot that would affect it, providing the rear lights work OK |

Yeah because you couldn't get the spare wheel out if you had a puncture. |
