If the vehicle is on a public street, you betcha!
When parallel parking on the side of a street not otherwise marked, vehicles must park in the direction of the flow of traffic for that side of the street.
The idea behind the rule is that when you pull away you are pulling into the normal flow of traffic. |

Yes! The cop told me I was parked the wrong way in front of my friends house! How stupid is that?!? Apparently you have to be facing the flow of traffic. I asked for a warning but he said "I am just doing my job sir!" This law has been on the books for years. |

He probably already has. |

Yes. A subdivision's parking is still public space. Just one whose traffic is limited. |

Theoretically, you would have had to be driving on the wrong side of the road in order to be able to park in the wrong direction. You're pretty much guilty unless you can get the cop to believe you drive backward everywhere. |

A lot of states have laws about that. Where I live, Va,they give tickets for that too. |

In PA they sure can so I'm betting CA isn't any different. They're simply trying to keep traffic flowing in the correct direction and keep you from doing something dangerous like crossing traffic the wrong way to park in front of your house. |

If you have parked on a public street they can. If it is on your own property they cannot. |

Yes they can, but it's rarely done. Depends on what city. Some are VERY strict on that and others will not cite you unless neighbors complain (like where I live)
I park a trailer in my driveway and some neighbor is always calling the law if it's even 1" over the sidewalk. |

My wife got a ticket for that on a dead end street. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. |

yes, cops can pretty much do whatever they want, the site is not the location for arguing right and wrong, that's what court is for, but you won't fare any better there either |
