The pulling is not the issue - its the stopping power. A lighter truck may not have strong enough brakes to control a trailer of that weight. |

My 6 cylinder truck could not tow a 40 foot travel trailer. It could barely move it down the driveway. When we sold the trailer, the people that bought it had to borrow a truck...a V8 turbo diesel Ford.
I wouldn't try it.

I assume you mean a pickup truck, and not a semi-truck tractor?
Pickup truck - Possible? - YES
Pickup truck - Smart? - NO
Semi-truck tractor - Possible? - Certainly, it happens all the time.

Well, the size of the engine is not the issue so much as how much torque do you have?
I once saw a truck with a 6 cylinder out-pull several trucks with much larger engines at a tractor pull, but he had tons of torque.
To better answer your question though, I do not think that a Nissan truck can pull a 40 foot, 12 ton trailer. |
