Risk assessment, If you are doing 90 in a 70 limit you would be exceeding the speed limit by 22.2%, Hopefully you would be on a motorway with all the traffic flowing in the same direction, with central barriers and few junctions. If you were doing 40 in a 30mph limit the excess would be 25.0% and you would be very likely to kill someone, plus more likely to have an accident, both would be breaking the law, both are vied different, due to risk. |

£60 fine and 3 points on your licence |

It will almost certainly be 3 points and a £60 fine if you were picked up on a radar gun or with a GATSO type speed camera. Unless you have a really bad driving record. |

depends on the police, it could be a fixed penalty and 3 points, but if it goes to court a heavier fine and more points, its unusual to lose your licence unless your doing over 30mph above speed limit. |

If you are in the UK you would be looking at 3 to 6 penalty points, discretionary disqualification and a fine of up to £2500. |

if you are a police officer on or off duty then probably nothing (other than a small article in newspaper about police not getting fined for speeding), otherwise 3 points(SP?? on license) and £60 fine. I think us non-police should have option of let off and couple of inches in newspaper as would help keep insurance premium down. |
