Can anyone list me all the types of vehicle defects that you do or don't get points for?

I would know that you'd get points if it was a defective tyre because that could obviously be extremely dangerous such as if it blewout whilst driving especially on a motorway or national speed limit road, but was wondering if other defects like faulty break, indicator lights, smashed light cluster, no side mirrors etc would result in penalty points?

the only thing you wont get points on your licence .is for road tax because thats a civil offence not a criminal offence .

i cant really list them all,but most is down to the discretion of the police officer who pulls you over..most u mention the driver can get ticketed for but most coppers with give them the option of getting it fixed within 7 days and then a mot tester will stamp the paperwork to say its been done.that is then sent away and no further action is taken....
a loose car battery can get you a £60 fine and 3 points

Not sure you'd get points but certainly a fine, tyres are main one, check out the DVLA website

The license testing officer will check some basic safety features. If they’re not OK, your test cannot continue. As a minimum, check these items before going for your Drive Test:

registration is current

tires have at least 1.5mm of tread all around the surface - anything less is unsafe and illegal.

tires are inflated to the correct pressure

all lights work properly – the headlights (high and low beam), indicators, tail lights, and brake lights. Ask someone to stand outside the car while you turn them on/off to make sure they work

windscreen is clean, no chips or cracks

windscreen wipers (and washers) are working

horn is working

brakes should be in good condition.
