Can anyone tell me, is it illegal to have passengers in the car with a learner driver driving?

I am a learner, and i have been told that i should only have another driver in with me, no other passengers.

it is not illegal, as some driving schools often have the previous learner in the car and the next learner drives them to their home

IT IS OK FOR YOU TO DRIVE IN THE UK AS LONG AS AT LEAST ONE OF YOUR PASSENGERS HAS HELD A LICENSE FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS!

TRUST ME IT IS OK.

I think as long as you have a licensed driver over 21 with you it's OK.

I do believe that what you were told is 100% accurate.

not in the UK

It's fine to have passengers as well as your qualified driver. As long as you're comfortable with it and don't find them distracting.

"Call me Dave"
No Restriction on the number of passengers in a car driven by learner in UK.

as stated as long as the person sitting in the front passenger seat is over 21 and held a full UK licence for at least 3 out of the last 4 yrs, and provided there are sufficient seats equal to passengers in rear no problem, you can, but the ? was should you?, if it affected your driving in anyway no!

As long as your passenger in the seat next to you is at least 18 and has a valid drivers license. It should be ok. I had pleanty of passengers while i was learning to drive. But thats been so long ago..lol If ya don't feel comfortable with any of the answers you get call your local B.M.V.

There's no restriction on the number of passengers but at least one must have a full driving licence, i.e. has passed their driving test.

star ray
in Ireland a earner driver has to have a full licence driver on with them

steven d
as long as you are not over the limit the car can hold it is fine and make shure you have a license driver over 18.

I have not heard that, you have to have a legal driver with you but if you are say driving the family someplace I can't see how that can be illegal. It has been awhile but I know I used to have more then one person when I was learning. Check your driving manual if you have one, this may be a certain state thing.

fred10002003
a learner driver is supposed to have somebody with a full licence besides him/her but there is no problems with passengers

That is true in most states

It's fine as long as the front passenger has a full driving license and is not drunk or under the influence of drink, drugs or unfit through tiredness.

If you don't have a fully licensed front passenger you are guilty of driving without a license, no insurance etc.

Angel
Hi no ont in the UK, ive never heard of this before. The only thing you have to have in the care thats legal is the other driver he has to have a full driving licensce and insurance on the car, but other than that you can have passengers. Just as long as they keep quite and dont distract your drivingof course.

BROWNLYN
as long as one of them is 25 and has a license from what i hear anyway

Most states it is illeagal to have passengers in your car with just a learners permit. You must have a reason with a regular valid drivers licence at all times. Your best bet is to check your driving manual or ask at the licence department to be sure. Dont risk loosing them befor you really get them.

funky munky is back
It's not illegal, but it's up to the driving instructors discression.

Miss Terry
you can have anyone but the person sitting next to you must have a full licence and is responsible for the way you drive it is them who will get nicked as well as you if you get stopped

as far as i know its fine but it might make it harder to drive with people watching

There is no restriction on passengers in the uk.

You require to have a front seat passenger who is at least 21 years old and has held a full UK driving licence for at least 3 years.

The passangers may be a distraction and cause you to screw things up if you get nervous.

Tennessee restrictions are only licensed drivers 21 or older, or family with a written permission letter from the parent or guardian. (this is for multiple passengers, you are allowed the first one)

nate_625
you CAN have passengers in the car with you. the law is that there must be at least one licensed person of at least 18 years of age.
