Can car drivers wear helmets instead of seatbelts like motorcyclists?

Not that I would prefer it, just a tought.

I don't think you can. it would further obstruct your view inside a car, and it wouldn't be able to void the seat belt laws.

You can wear a helmet if you want, but you still have to wear the seatbelt. State law.

From safety point of view, wear a helmets only cannot prevent a person thought away to the front window when his/her car pump into a tree. So a driver still need seat belt. But extra helmet is certainly better, like the racer driver, they have both.

yes & No! without seat bealts you can fly out the window and break every bone in your body, except your head. Where would the benifit be in that?

Seat belt is a must in all states in U.S. Helmet is another layer of protection on top of seatbelt.

Seatbelt saves lives. Drive safe. and Have fun.

There are more people suffering head injuries in car accidents every year than motorcycles so wearing a helment makes sense if it's purpose is to reduce head injuries.

How about a motorcyclist ditching the helmet and tying himself to the bike with ropes????

Each state has different laws, but they are all pretty specific about requiring a seat belt. A helmet is going to do nothing to keep you from flying through the windshield in an accident.
