Can i find pepper spray or any other item in a store to protect myself..?

Well, I am not sure if you are going to find it at Target or Wal*Mart. Most safety companies have it. I myself work for a fire protection company and we also sell safety products. We have it on our inventory and it typically sells for about $15.00. Check for "Safety Products" in your yellow pages, or check around on-line. Here is a good site, with quite a bit of good safety information, but I think there products are a little bit pricey...

Yes I have some pepper spray and a Kubaton (Self-defense weapon you can put on your keychain). You can order both of these online. Both will cost you around 5-8 bucks each. I have both on my keychain always! So if I'm walking out of work late or walking out of a store, I have them on me. Get trained on how to use the Kubaton.

Ya, You can find it at the stores you mentioned, usually the keep it locked up. I'm not sure how much it cost, but I don't think it's to much. I know for a fact Fred Meyers carries it, I got some for my Mom.

some states like mass you need a gun liscence to buy it, there are some stores thou that will sell a knock off, thats less effective but still sux if your on the recieving end.

If you have a local police station, just pop in and ask them. They will help you out! they might even give you some supplies!

First check the local laws on carrying sprays. Call the police non-emergency/business line, they should be able to tell you.

If it's legal in your area see if there are any emergency services supply shops around. They will carry an assortment.

See if there are any self-defense classes available. It's good to get some practice, and they make practice sprays that shoot water with the same force and spray pattern as the real thing so you know what to expect.

Pepper spray isn't magic. Even if you hit someone right on the button they can still be dangerous. The emphasis is on getting away from baddies, not duking it out with them. ;)

I am NOT suggesting you start pack'n a gun, but all the gun stores I know carry it and special holsters...no..I do not carry a gun. Ha Ha

First check your local laws to see if you need a permit to carry Pepper Spray. Some States and Municipalities are more lenient than others, and you may only need a permit for mace, which will require you to take an instructional course on its safe and effective use. Once you have dug in and answered these questions, check your local army surplus store. I have seen many different variations of sprays with different potency's at mine.
Cost will depend on the size container you buy and the potency / effectiveness of the item, but I would guess you'll most likely pay between $10-$25.

Different state / city have different law. But it is safe to say that if you can buy it at Target or Kmart it is legal (locally). But also consider getting a personal siren.

But more than pepper spray or sirens, it is best to get a personal defense training. It isn't hard. It's all about giving off an attitude of a victim or non-victim.

Remember these childhood bullies and kidnappers have one thing in common - they are all cowards picking on people they think are weak. So you have to have an air of a survivor. You can only get that from surviving (or getting some training).

One thing they always say (ON TV) is never GO with the kidnapper to a SECONDARY crime scene. That's when the kidnapper has all the control and you have none.

yes you can buy that stuff at those stores. Be sure when you are jogging that all your stuff isnt flippin and floppin all around that only draws attention to yourself.
