Can i have driving lessons while waiting to have an eye test?

I'm currently having lessons but i've noticed that i might not be able to read a number plate when i do my test, my instructor hasn't asked me about this yet as i've only had 2 lessons - could someone help me? Im going for an eye test as soon as..but will my instructor say anything?

It is vital that you inform your instructor immediately.
I had a pupil 5 years ago and after all the checks his eyesight was a bit dodgy, but after a few attempts at looking at the reg. number he read it no problem. After 10 hours of lessons he left to go to University. When he came back ( about 10months later) we went back out. I then noticed that he was missing things. We sat by the side of the road and the only car available was across the road about 10 metres away. When asked to read the plate he replied saying he couldn't even make out the car!!!! Off the road immediately. He since has had regular eye tests and wears glasses. He eventually passed. |

I know when i was having lessons, on my first my instructor made me read a number plate on a car in the distance before he let me start driving. |

It is an offence to drive with uncorrected eyesight as you say you have. You risk a fine, so does the driving instructor. |

your GOOD instructor should of asked you to read a number plate PRIOR to you starting the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Just tell him you need an eye test, and when you have the results book some more lessons. he won't mind - in fact he will be pleased by your responsible attitude ( i would be, if it was one of my pupils!)
Don't take any lessons meanwhile, as it is an offence to drive with uncorrected vision. |

Beat the system. Have someone train you in a large, open area in their own vehicle. Hopefully they are comfortable enough with you driving so when you learn things in the classroom, you can take them home and train. Maybe a mall parking lot, or a stadium parking lot like my mom used to... I miss my mom.. But I didn't read a plate when I went to the DPS so.... |
