Alex,takes no Prisoners!

Not really as you have to test the vehicle's also by driving. Normally your employer would put you through your driving test. |

ideally you will gain your licence at some point during training as a mechanic who cannot road test a vehicle isnt much use! |

yeah, but i guess it depends on where you go for training. i currently go to wyotech and it is not required that you have a drivers license to go to school, however you cant drive any of the school cars into or out of the shop. hope this answerer's your question. |

definitely. Lets face it, most mechanics start their apprenticeships when they leave school at 16 - you can't drive until your 17!
Learning how cars work for a year or so will probably help you learn to drive anyway as you will know what is happening when you are pressing all this pedals and moving levers! |

yes, why not ! but you wont be able to drive them when you have to test drive a car ! just notify your instructor, that you don't have a license, and your employer, of course how are we to know every mechanic has a license ! that works on our cars ! how do we know if every mechanic is certified ! |

probally, a licence really has no relation with being a machanic |

Of course. Many, possibly most, started their training at 16, before they could hold a car licence. You will be able to drive cars in and out of the workshops but obviously could not road test them. |

sure you can, it doesnt take a license to start turning wrenches and figure out how an engine works, you may have a hard time getting hired in a garage without a license because most garages require you to test drive vehicles but you dont need a license to learn how to work on cars. I started working on cars when I was 9 years old and own my own shop today!! Good luck to ya |

Yes you can .
why not learn to drive while you train to be a mechanic . |

In the same way that you don't need to be a mechanic to drive a car you don't need to know how to drive to fix a car.
Go to the airport and find out how many aircraft engineers are qualified pilots. It won't be many :)
Good luck to you. |

Yes you can and I have hired many through the years without a drivers license but I do inform my insurance company and I make them sign a document that they can never drive any vehicle that is in our shop. |
