Can just anyone put up a no parking sign?

i live in a community and my driveway is not very large. We have 3 people that live here and the driveway fits 2 so the third one parks across the street. they just put a sign up saying no parking but i saw them do it and it was the neighbor putting it up. I dont think just anyone can put a sign up and have it be enforced

If it is a public street then you can park where ever you want. If it is just a neighbor then they have no right to say that you can not park on the street as long as you are legally parked.

No. Only the local parking enforcement agency in your community can put up these signs on public streets.

The neighbor has no claim to the spaces in front of his property. If it is a public street, then anyone can park there.

You can report this violation. You could try your local police department NON emergancy number. They might be able to direct your call to the proper agency. That neighbor COULD be facing a hefty fine for his greedy act.

Call your local city managers office and give the location of where you live so that he or she can tell you if this is private or public along with if you can or cannot do this..
