You will have to check the law for your area....I wouldn't say it's a good idea though, you never know what will happen, and it's better for a child to be in the back.....

Seatbelt is, so strap him in.

Under 18, seatbelt.
Under 6, child restraint.
Under 6, but over 55" tall, seatbelt. (I don't see that one happening)

Check local state laws, size is more important than age, he should be at least 60pounds before he sits up front.

You may want to check with laws in yourstate your child might be able to as long the child is wearing a seat belt but to be sure I would check with police department or check with the bmv thats what I would do
