When you are backing up, you should be looking behind you and checking all the mirrors. Yep, one has to be a bit of a contortionist. To effectively look behind, one has to partially turn around in the seat and this requires the right hand to rest on or behind the passnger seat. this means you get to steer with one hand while backing up. It is the easiest way.
