Can you drive with your brights on when you are driving down a frontage road?

Additional Details
I know when to use my brights, I mean when I am driving. I am talking about when driving down a frontage road that runs parralel to an expressway. Can I drive with my brights on when there are cars on the exrpessway? They are not on my road but I would assume they are affected by them. Is it Illegal to drive with your brights on when driving down a frontage road.

Remember: Frontage Road means road running parralel to an expressway/highway. Usually only about 30 ft seperate these two roads along with some sort of short barrier.

Friendly Stranger..
Yes you can. Driving with your lights on is a good idea even in the day time. Driving with your lights on increases your distance that other cars see you. Many do this even in the day time because as said it increases the distance. It is important for other cars to see you because it can decrease accidents if they are aware of your presence. For example, if you have your lights on and you are about to chance lanes, then the car behind you can see your lights and they are aware that you are changing lanes and the likelihood of a collision is decreased. Without your lights on then you and other drivers are relying on the day time brightness which sometimes may not be effective. Also note it is a good idea to have your lights on when you are traveling back roads. This is a good idea because in back roads visibility is decreased as well. My whole point is that having your lights on during the day is a good idea because it increases the visibility of yourself and other cars.

Remember, if your'e drivng the opposite way to traffic on the expressway, your high beams will be facing oncoming traffic. Unless you really need them, I wouldn't. If you're going the same direction as traffic, it should be OK until you meet someone.

Yes you can, but be mindful of other drivers in front of you.... of course if you're the only one on the road, then who cares.. because it can get really dark. I do know one thing... it's very annoying to be followed by someone who have their 'high beams' on!! It's like "hey, we all are havingtrouble seeing out here, but you're only making it worse.." hope I helped :-)

You can drive with your brights on no matter where you are as long as there aren't cars coming that can get blinded, or people driving in front of you.

I always drive with my brights on, even in most parts of the town where I live (during winter) as streets are poorely lighted. Of course, as soon as there is a car in front of me, or coming from another direction, or even people walking, I turn them off, but then I turn them back on -- they give a wider and further view, so it's for security purposes, you can drive much safer and with less fear you could hit something (be it a rock or a block on a road or, God forbid, a person).

It's much safer, just learn to use them and react quickly if another suddenly appears, so you don't blind the other driver. Once it becomes a habit, it's great.

P.S. Watch out, in some countries it's forbidden to drive in towns/cities with brights on.

Yes as long as no other cars are coming from the opposite direction.

As long as there's no cars approaching from behind.

I often use my brights on dark roads to read the signs of turning off points when they don't have traffic lights or lit up lamps.
