I believe its illegal to double buckle.If this is the case,you can not legally fit 5 people.however maybe someone has a van you could borrow to take the trip & you could let them use yours.Good Luck with this.and either way have a safe trip.

I would tell your bf you care too much to put him in danger. Which is what you would be doing. Two people in one seat belt in an accident is a disaster. The 2 could be killed.

Double buckling is illegal, and can contribute to severe injuries if an accident occurs.

You CANNOT double buckle!
When you do the forces between the two people will stay within the seatbelt, but the two people will be smashed together.
You can usually install a 5th seatbelt between the two rear-seat people, use the same mounting bolts as the two inner rear seat belts mount to. I did this on a `96 GEO Metro.
if you double belt with someone on your lap, and get in a wreck, the person behind will crush the person on their lap into the seat belt and kill them. |
