Can you legally park overnight on a public street with no street signs?
|
I'm going out of town for a few weeks and would like to park at a neighborhood street near the airport and afraid that the residents have the authority to legally tow my car or have an officer cite me a parking ticket.

In many areas, they have rules about the length of time that a vehicle can be parked without being moved. Usually that is somewhere in the area of 72 hours. This law can be enforced, even if there are no signs posted.
What you want to do is avoid paying to park in an airport lot, and instead park in a residential area where you do not live. You want to leave your car unprotected, where no one will care if it is damaged or broken into.
A car parked in an area where it is not known, and where it is not registered for several weeks may easily be considered to be abandoned. If it is vandalized, or inoperable, it may be towed quickly. If the neighborhood has a problem with people parking there when traveling, they know that a flat tire will make the car inoperable and may decide to let the air out of a tire.
If you were talking about an overnight trip, it may be worth the risk. You are going to leave your car for several weeks. If it is towed the first week and is in storage for 14 days before you get back, you would be looking at a tow bill in the area of $125, and storage of at least $25 per day which would be another $350. Add to that the tickets that will be issued, and the thrill of finding your car missing, and I would not consider it.
Look for parking companies that are off the airport property, that provide a shuttle service. You may even be able to get a discount by reserving on line. That way your car is parked in a secure area, and you are not taking the risk of an expensive "savings".
You may check with hotels in the area of the airport also. Some offer package deals where you can stay a night, leave your car and take a shuttle to the airport, and when you come back, take the shuttle back. |

Sorry they cant .If its not clearly marked as No parking any time or resident parking only they will have to suffer. If your neighbor says its cool to park in front then its cool.If it says no parking after 3" of snow and it snows when your gone then your screwed. |
