no.. you ALWAYS need to move to the right... otherwise accidents could happen....
If its a multilane highway and people are moving right and left to get out of his way, its probably going to get a little messy..
If you are on the left side of the highway, and the ambulance is on your right, slow down, but STAY in your lane... IF you move to the right, you'll get in his way.. |

No you are to get as far to the right as you can this leaves the left for them to negotiate down the middle even in a divided road go to the right as far as possible. |

No. The law requires you to pull right and that is what the ambulance crew expects you to do. By doing something that is illegal and unpredictable you increase the chances of an accident. In which case it is all your fault and you will have to pay all damages. |

no, if stopped traffic to right prevents you moving right, but there's an open lane or shoulder to your left, better to just stop where you are and let the ambulance pass on your left.
It's what they'll expect you to do. |

In general you should pull over to the right, at least in Illinois, unless directed otherwise by a police officer or other person directing traffic. The following are from the Illinois drivers handbook.
"Police/Emergency Vehicles
All motorists must yield the right-of-way and immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection and, if necessary to permit the safe passage of the emergency vehicle, stop and remain in such position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, unless otherwise directed by a police officer. Upon approaching a stationary emergency vehicle, a driver should, when safe to do so, move into a lane not adjacent to the emergency vehicle, reduce speed and proceed with caution."
"when police or emergency vehicles are using sirens or flashing lights. The driver must pull to the right-hand edge of the roadway and stop, if necessary. Intersections must not be blocked"
"Traffic laws protect everyone who share our streets and highways. It is important to remember that everyone must obey the orders of a police officer, firefighter or uniformed adult school crossing guard who is directing traffic. |

Depends on where you are. If you are on the left side of a three+ lane highway, naturally you'll end up going left. Otherwise, it is usually wisest to go right. The most important thing is this: GET OUT OF THE WAY FAST!!! |
