My A pillar is big enough to hide a truck down the street to the right.
My B pillar is big enough to hide any vehicle in the left lane.
My C and D pillars are huge. |

If you have ever driven a car from the 60,s you would not say that.
Cars today are safer and give better vision than they have ever done.
I have been driving 40 years and would not like to have to drive some of the death traps that were built years ago.
And may I add I have never hit anyone.
What has been proven time and time again is that the major cause of accidents is driver incompetence. |

I think it comes down to DRIVER COMPETENCE.
As a good driver, you will be observant and look in your 'blind spots' therby NOT running people down. |

No they are there for passsenger safty. You should take more time to look out for obsticals! If you are finding modern day driving you should consider a refresher course? |

yea i know what your saying as my 20 year old rangie is like driving a green house, where as the wifes freebie has the huge a pillars which are a pain at roundabouts. But EU says cars have to be safe now so thats the way they are |

As phillhoon says , cars in the 60`s had far thicker a,b &c posts, and the all round vision was appaling, some with windows no bigger than Dennis Taylor`s snooker glasses. The glass to metal ratio today is far greater than it was. |

they were made wider for the safety of the driver and passenger but i agree that they do make it more difficult for all round vision. maybe if they were made from stronger materials then they could make them thinner again. |
