Car accident fatality?

Sorry for your loss. I am sure that the police at the scene of the accident would have checked out the driver very carefully and would have tested the driver if they suspected impairment of any kind.

Tests are done if there is any suspicion of impairment. Not all deaths are caused by alcohol or drugs, many are caused by faulty equipment, driver stunting/racing, or just plain carelessness.
Sorry for your loss, I have not lost family to alcohol-related accidents, but I have lost friends and clients.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. It is always difficult when a close family member or a friend dies as a result of a careless act of someone else.

They might not have told you about taking the guy's blood alcohol reading, but I can rest assure you that they will be taking the blood alcohol level from him. They might not want to tell you about it, as this is considered evidence, and if they tell you anything like this, it will help weaken the case against this guy, so they have to keep the evidence discreet until such a time that litigation of the case has taken place.

Also was she dead at the scene?? If she died later in the hospital or whatever, than there's not much cops can do, as these people already left the scene and are on their way home. Even if they tried going to their house or something to get the breathalyzer done, if too much time went by it's not going to be accurate.

I think breathalyzer should be done at all crash scenes, imo. Unless it is really obvious that it wasn't caused by any impairment. Yes, there are many, many causes of accidents, but i'd rather overtest than undertest. Also even if a fatality isn't involved right away, if someone should die later on, they have the info/evidence already.

Anyways, very sorry for your loss. Very sad to lose someone, esp. someone so young like that. And if it was drug or alcohol related, it's even worse yet, cuz it was so preventable. My heart goes out to you and your family. I hope justice is served, and the guy who hit him is at least charged/fined for speeding or whatever caused it. Not that can really do anything, but at least he's not getting away with it.
