Car drivers. Have you seen or heard about this?

ALL CAR OWNERS AND CAR DRIVERS PLEASE READ

Be aware of new car-jacking scheme.
You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift or put into reverse. You look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and You notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.
So, you shift the gear stick back into park or neutral, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper or whatever it is that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off!!

Your engine was running, you would have left your purse in the car and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED IN GLASGOW AND MANCHESTER AND IS MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!

My car key stays in my pocket - I don't need to put it in the ignition. Also, I never get out with the engine running as it wastes fuel, and I prefer to reverse into parking spaces than out of them (much safer).
If anyone tried that on me, I'd be able to deadlock them into the car.

Have heard about it via email. Does no harm to remind people to be careful.
Also, remember to lock your doors, if in car alone. Two occassions recently in Aberdeen, man tried to get into passenger seat when car stopped at traffic lights

That was reported in our paper many many months ago...However the newest one for us anyways is, people going around in the parking lots selling perfume...and you can see the bottles and the clipboards they are toting around, however the catch here is, they have you smell a sample and in turn you pass out, and off they go with your car and all....

so yes talk about sick....even more so be aware out there with this time change and getting darker earlier, there are these crimes happening.

Yes that is bad, but as I live in a very bad rough area of Birmingham I am overly cautious anyway, and whenever I leave the car I always take my keys out, as there are thieving gits in my area, who will rob your car whether you kids is in the car or not. And as every time I go in my car my little one is with me, I would not even for a second leave the keys in the car.
But it is a good warning I shall pass on to the idiots who do.

Yes, if there was a word of truth to it, it would be bad. However this is a false email that has been circulating for some time, and is not true. No police department anywhere has reported this actually has happened. So, although it's true you should be aware of your surrounding and take some degree of care, this one has never happened.

As they tell you, there is no substance known to mankind that can render someone unconscious with just a sniff or two, despite what the TV shows and movies say about it.

This has been a favoured method in London for a few years now, along with the person falling in to the kerb, you think they are hurt so leap out of your car to help them while their mates jump in to your car and drive off. Old tricks I am afraid, just use the rear wash wipe to get rid of the note on the rear screen and drive away and sadly never stop for someone that looks okay on a London street at night. Keep your car doors locked at all times when driving at night and in town centres and if your car allows have the noise and light function when you unlock the car turned off so that people around cannot tell when you are unlocking it. If you have the function to have your car alarm on while driving (some cars have this function where the cabin and other parts of the alarm are disabled) along so that if anyone tries to force their way in to the car or beat the car to intimidate you then the alarm goes off. Also always carry your mobile and have it at hand in your car, not to phone friends but to dial 999, 911 or 112.

Never heard of it. But it sounds really plausible since most drivers won't bother to turn off their engines.

It's not a new "scheme" - It's an urban legend, merely invented just to scare the crap out of you. There is no reported incident of this happening ANYWHERE.
