Car windows get foggy interiorly ?

I have a 99 Chevy Malibu and my side windows get foggy (interior) whenever I turn on the defroster for my windshield. If I turn off my defroster for my windshield, the side windows get defogged, but then my windshield gets foggy.
This is an annoying and safe hazard for me because it is winter time and I need all windows to stay defogged as much as possible.
I got tired of just wiping the side windows with a rag whenever they get foggy while driving. Any suggestions?

Turn on the heater and set it for exhaust on the windshield and also keep the defogger on. Your problem will be solved. |

You have to let the engine warm up a bit, or you're just blowing cold air onto a slightly colder window. If your hair is still a little wet, and your breathing, adds to the condensation on the windows.
Give the car at least 30 seconds to warm up before starting off. |

When you turn on the heat to defrost the windshield, also turn on the AC. The AC will pull moisture and dry the windshield. I learned this trick several years ago with an older car. Now we have a brand new Nissan and it automatically turns on the AC when I turn on the windshield air. |

Do you or did a previous owner smoke in the vehicle? If so really clean the glass well with some glass cleaner such as the type you get in the aerosol can. It's more like a foam than a liquid and it will clean much better. Wiping the windows from the interior when they get foggy will just smear this smoke residue and won't solve your problem without a good cleaning... if that's the problem. Hope this may help!

Be sure your heater/defroster is on "outside" air and not on "recirculate." Recirculating inside air will keep the moisture inside the car and not remove it. Also, if you can, leave a window cracked an half inch or so to let moisture out when parked. |

That shouldn't happen. Use max heat on the defroster. Once the interior temp gets high enough for the moisture to stay in the air they should clear. If no luck, try using an anti fogging agent on the glass. The local auto parts store should have a couple to choose from. |

Before heading out let you car warn up a bit.. and turn on your defogger if this don't work see a Specialist. |
