I was involved in an accident. I pulled out in the middle of the intersection (to make a left turn) and stopped waiting for everyone going straight to go through. About 4 or 5 cars went straight and I was getting ready to turn waiting for the last car, when we hit (she was going straight too). Since she was driving at the speed limit or more (speed limit 35mph), she then hit a car several feet behind me. I pulled over and assessed the others involved in the accident (I am a nurse). Everyone was OK, except the girl I collided with c/o a sore nose. I do not remember taking my foot off the brake, but everything happened so fast, and I am not sure if the girl swurved towards me. No one at the accident seemed to know what happened and was asking everyone what happened. Officer never got a statement from me, but said that he had "wittnesses" stating they saw my car moving, which is interesting since nobody knew before. Received a careless driving ticket and a left turn ticket (failure to yeild to oncoming traffic). Live in PA and both tickets would mean 6 points for an accident I am not sure I even caused. Cannot afford a lawyer. Any advice?

By the way, both my car and the girl's car were black, it was dark outside, and the area was not well lit. One lane roads. No special turn signal or lane. Thanks so much!

its actually your fault im guessing only cause even though pretty much everybody pulls in the middle of the intersection waiting for cars to go by going straight, its actually illegal i think to do that, your really supposed to wait behind the line or in case your light turns red and you either can't back up b/c it would probably be cars behind you or you'd have to basically run the red light by turning left after the light changes to red |

Its your fault all the way...
Update: Go in front of the judge and explain the situation and as if it is possible for you to take a defensive driving course and if it is then this will reduce the fine and the points.good luck. |
